Palm Pre Wireless Signal Issues
Gizmodo has a poll asking people if they’ve experienced problems with their cell phone reception.
If you’ve been having this problem, it could be a matter of your software. While 1.0.2 says that it’s only supposed to add an alarm clock, there has to be alot more included in a 67MB download. Similar issues have been seen with the iPhone so this isn’t the first time it’s happens.
Many times, these issues can be focused to a specific region. If you’ve been having issues, let me know in the comments and also include where you are. It just may be that people who live where you live may be having the same issues.
Same as most people here..the phone gets one-two bars of signal in most places.I am in south miami.The battery life is extremly short. The worst part of it, is due to the low signal and the amount of dropped calls. I’m on the phone i hear a tone next thing i notice call is dropped again! I have a blackberry also and it has full signal and never had a dropped call. Last thing the phone over heats all the time.This is the 2nd palm pre I get, they freeze and u need to remove the battery and restart it.Not happy with the phone at all considering getting the Blackberry ‘tour.

I live in Dexter, MI 48103 (suburb of Ann Arbor) and I just got the pre yesterday. Reception is so bad, I may return it. My GF has sprint with an LG Rumor 2 and she gets 2-3 bars all through my apartment and I am lucky to get one bar. I never had issues with ATT.

Bought two pres a week ago, swapped them out with new ones two days later because I couldn’t believe the horrible signal I was getting was normal.
Same thing with the new two phones. Wild swings in signal when I’m not moving, lots of roaming where no Sprint phone should roam (like in two Sprint stores), over half my calls dropped or cut in and out, battery lasted 4 hours, phone heated up a good bit. I loved the phone otherwise and I could live with anything but the horrible signal.
Returned the phones, went back to Verizon. I live about 5 miles outside Washington D.C. in Alexandria, VA
